Learn: How To Speak Hip!

I just thought that some of you, including my self at times, could use some vocabulary building in how to speak hip - can be very confusing somes times. To help Del Close & John Brent presents some of the most common and used frases.

Enjoy!

Beirut: Taking over Hip Hop

Beirut's originality and briliantness can't be emphasized enough. But on the side to his own carrier he has a lot of project. Among these he started to remix a lot of songs within the genre of hip hop, which must be said is a long way from his own normal work. He remixed all of Jay-Z' album "American Gangster" and created his own "Beirut Gangster"; really worth checking out his development of the different tracks, some better than others... Beirut makes the beats a bit more laid back and less hip hopish on a path closer to is normal work.

Beside that he remixed for a lot of other artists and the best result from here is "Hope" by Nas. Also in honor of Nas' new album, which contains some sweet tracks (always a curtain standart with Nas) I thought it would be suitable to post:

Like hop hop? Like Beirut? Check it out!

Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip - Thou Shalt Always Kill

Pretty much a diss to all great band, groups and artists in the world. Not really a brilliant song in any way, but a hilarious text!

"The Beatles - Were just a band
Led Zepplin - Just a band
The Beach Boys - Just a band
The Sex Pistols - Just a band"
And so on...

Brooklyn - cross the bridge!

Something is happening in Brooklyn. Manhattan has become too expensive for upcoming and alternative artists.
Some years ago one could talk about Manhattan-coolness - i am thinking bands like The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs etc.
but now all that coolness has moved to Brooklyn and exploded.
So my advice to you: Go to NY and go to Brooklyn.
Brooklyn does not only contain cool bands but cool venues (some are a bit against regulations, but still cool).
a list of some great Brooklyn bands you need to get acquainted with!:

Music: Stars like fleas

Brooklyn based indie collective Stars like fleas has recently released their new album which contains amazing material.

So if you are into the collective feel of Broken Social Scene, the soft and smooth vocals of Epo-555 and Akon/family with a small twist of electronics plus the instrumentation of Arcade Fire, then Stars like fleas is worth checking out.

go to the website and download "I was only dancing" and "You are my memoir" - it's free and great!!
